National Football Centre - St George's Park - Exteriors

I was approached by Four Four Two magazine who were after an Interior and Architectural photographer who could produce an set of high quality images of the National Football Centre. Its rare that a magazine will employ a professional to take images instead usually opting for their existing photographers so when Four Four Two contacted me I was amazed at their approach to this editorial project wanting to document the incredible architecture and design that has gone into creating this location. Having never really been interested in Football aside for a brief stint collecting stickers in 1994 and watching England Games I was able to approach the project without the excitement that a football fan would have that could distract from the design and aesthetics of the building. The project was designed and created by Redbox design mainly by Barry Farrar who is the lead architect on this project and who I was lucky enough to meet and have a brief chat with as well as taking a portrait of.

Initially I concentrated on the exteriors unfortunately working in gale force winds and rain with my poor assistant Anna having to battle against the elements with an umbrella while I took the images. During post production I added a blue sky and clouds to some of the images to make it look less like a typical English day and more like those rare sunny days we all wish we could photograph on.
