Urban Exploration of the London Olympic Site
This was done way back in 2010, Urban Exploration has always been an interest of mine, its what got me into Photography in the first place and I still have a love of it. One of my all time favorite explorations was the London Olympic Stadium. The idea sprung from a constant want to up our game in the exploration world. I work as a freelance Photojournalist in London and the idea that the Olympic site could be infiltrated had sparked both my interest as an explorer and as a Photojournalist. Myself and three other explorers spoke on the phone about the possibility of infiltrating what was being marketed as an impenetrable infrastructure. The hype around the Olympic site made us want to see inside more and more everyday. We wanted to see inside not only for the thrill of it but also due to the amazing infrastructure which was being created. I myself have a love of Architecture and I now work as an Architectural and Interior Photographer in London and this drew me towards the site. So one evening in 2010 a group of us met up and scouted out the site, being careful to not be seen we made it inside the area. We were also very careful not to damage anything as we abide by our own ethics of not damaging or taking anything from a site or leaving any trace of our presence when going to a site. I shall not go into how we got onto the site but it was hard and I believe security was greatly increased afterwards all shots are hand held due to the nature of the explore and the speed we had to do it. The photos below are a documentation of the exploration of the London Olympic Stadium by Urban Explorers: The urban explorers involved have absolutely no interest in disrupting the games and did this purely for the experience and love of exploration:
